Your Official Can-Am Dealer in the North West

Can-Am is the newest franchise at Northwest Powersports, and it's one we're genuinely excited about. Built by BRP in Valcourt, Canada, and powered by Austrian-made Rotax engines, Can-Am ATVs and side-by-sides have a reputation for strong engines, clever suspension and the kind of build quality that stands up to proper work.

We've been selling and servicing quads from our base at Wellcross Farm in Upholland since our Northwest Quadbikes days, so we know what farmers, landowners and riders across Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire actually need from a machine. We're easy to reach from the M6 and M58, with plenty of customers coming over from Wigan, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, St Helens, Chorley and Preston.

The Can-Am Off-Road Range

Can-Am's line-up can look a little daunting at first, so here's a quick guide to the main families you'll find in our showroom.

Can-Am Outlander

The Outlander is Can-Am's best-selling all-rounder. The 500 and 700 use Rotax's 650cc single-cylinder engine, producing 40hp and 50hp, while the V-twin Outlanders go all the way up to 101hp in 1000R form. Every Outlander tows up to 830kg and carries 54kg on the front rack and 109kg on the back, so it's as happy pulling a trailer of feed as it is exploring green lanes.

Can-Am Outlander PRO

The Outlander PRO is the dedicated workhorse of the range, launched in the UK for farmers and professional users. HD5 and HD7 models share the 40hp and 50hp engines from the standard Outlander, and the XU versions add Dynamic Power Steering, a Visco-Lok front differential, a winch and a USB charger. If your quad is a tool first and a toy second, this is where we'd start.

Can-Am Renegade

The Renegade is Can-Am's sport ATV, with a shorter wheelbase and a much more playful feel. The Renegade X mr 1000R is the serious mud machine, with a 91hp Rotax V-twin, a raised snorkel, 30-inch mud tyres on beadlock wheels, FOX shocks and a winch fitted as standard.

Can-Am Traxter side-by-side

The Traxter is Can-Am's utility side-by-side, with a three-seat 40/20/40 bench, a proper tipping cargo box and models running from the HD7 up to the HD11. The range-topping HD11 has a 454kg cargo box, tows up to 1,134kg and comes with ABS, making it a brilliant choice for estates, equestrian yards and larger farms.

Can-Am Model Names Explained

Can-Am uses a lot of letters in its model names, and we get asked about them all the time. Here's what they mean.

Badge What it means
DPSDynamic Power Steering, which makes a big difference on a long day in the saddle.
XTAdds a 1,588kg (3,500lb) winch plus front and rear bumpers.
XT-PPerformance spec with upgraded FOX Podium shocks.
X mrMud-ready, with a snorkel, relocated radiator, mud tyres and Visco-4Lok.
MAXLonger wheelbase with a raised passenger seat for two-up riding.
LIMITEDThe top-spec, fully loaded version.
PROThe work-focused Outlander range.
XUThe higher-spec utility package on PRO and Traxter models.
HD5, HD7, HD11Can-Am's engine designations, a higher number meaning more power.
TTractor homologated, so the machine can be registered for road use.

Road-Legal Can-Am Quads: What the "T" Means

Many of the Outlanders we sell carry a "T" in the name. That means they're homologated as T3b tractors, so they can be registered with the DVLA and used on the road. You'll need number plates, insurance and a full car licence, and if the machine is used for farming it can usually be registered as a light agricultural vehicle, with no vehicle tax to pay. It's a huge help if you need to nip between fields or neighbouring farms, and we're always happy to talk you through the paperwork when you buy.

Can-Am for Farms, Estates and Business Users

Most of the working Can-Am models we stock are priced plus VAT, because the majority go to farms, estates, contractors and land-based businesses. We'll happily help you work out which machine fits your land, your loads and your budget, from a single Outlander PRO for checking stock to a Traxter for hauling fencing materials and tools around a big site. If you're comparing options, it's also worth looking at our CFMOTO CForce range, and we'll give you an honest view on which suits you best.

Can-Am FAQs

Are you an official Can-Am dealer?

Yes. Northwest Powersports is an official Can-Am off-road dealer, selling new Can-Am ATVs and side-by-sides from our showroom in Upholland, Lancashire.

Which Can-Am quad is best for farm work?

For most farms we'd recommend the Outlander PRO, ideally an XU model with power steering and a winch. If you tow heavier loads or cover a lot of ground, a V-twin Outlander or a Traxter side-by-side may suit you better. Give us a call and we'll talk it through.

Are Can-Am quads road legal?

Models with a "T" in the name are tractor homologated, so they can be registered with the DVLA and used on the road with number plates, insurance and a full car licence.

What's the difference between the Outlander and the Outlander PRO?

The Outlander is an all-rounder for work and leisure, while the Outlander PRO is built specifically for professional and agricultural users, with work-focused features such as a Visco-Lok differential and a winch on XU models.

Do you offer finance and part exchange on Can-Am models?

Yes, we offer finance options and welcome part exchanges on quads, side-by-sides and motorcycles. Get in touch and we'll put a quote together for you.

Can you service my Can-Am if I didn't buy it from you?

Absolutely. Our workshop services Can-Am ATVs and side-by-sides whoever you bought them from, using genuine parts.
